Dona Filipa Hotel

The Dona Filipa Hotel is located slightly elevated and close to the beach in the middle of the exclusive Vale do Lobo residential area and is known for its famous San Lorenzo golf course. It is considered one of the most attractive courses in the whole country, is regularly voted one of the "Top Ten in Europe" and can be played exclusively by hotel guests.

For five decades , the Dona Filipa has been one of the most traditional and well-known golf hotels in the Algarve. However, age has not left the grande dame untouched. Extensive renovation work has therefore begun in order not to lose touch with the five-star competition. Most of the 154 rooms and suites now shine in new splendor with modern comfort, without losing their Portuguese charm.
The view from our balcony of the lush fairway green of the Vale do Lobo Royal Golf Course is relaxing, with the Atlantic glistening blue on the horizon.
In the newly designed main restaurant Kamal, chef Bruno Oliveira offers an eclectic mix of Portuguese and international dishes. Alternatively, there are evening buffets with changing themes - from BBQ to "Fisherman". Breakfast is served on the terrace with a view over the pool to the blue sea.
The beach , just 200 meters away, is fantastic: over a kilometer long, wide and fine sand, partly lined with picturesque red rocks typical of the Algarve. During the summer months, the hotel offers free parasols, sun loungers and beach towels.
Unfortunately, the proximity to the airport cannot be ignored. One plane after another takes off on Sunday afternoons. When we visited, the hotel did not yet have its own spa. However, it is already being planned. For guests who still value treatments, appointments can be booked at the Royal Spa, a ten-minute walk away, which is equipped with all wellness facilities.
