Test highlight The club lounge with terrace in the inner courtyard, open from morning to evening, and our "Sapphire Sublime Suite" by the pool
Corfu town nearby and a short transfer to and from the airport: The majority of luxury hotels offer just that. It's almost an overland journey to get to the Domes of Corfu on the west coast. Built at the end of the 1970s, the hotel, which is part of the Autograph Collection, presents itself as a perfect luxury summer hideaway with plenty of lush greenery, deep blue sea, a dream location on a beautiful bay and a subtly oriental ambience that we would not have expected here.
The next pleasant surprise: We will spend the next few days and nights in a tasteful "Sapphire Sublime Swim up Suite", decorated in warm earthy tones. Our terrace ends directly at the elongated communal pool and offers sufficient privacy despite its proximity to the neighbors. Another luxurious retreat is the club lounge, which is open to guests of the "Haute Living Selection" from the morning until late in the evening, with a cozy inner courtyard and exclusive ambience.
Apropos "exclusive": Thanks to its location in a private-looking bay, the Domes of Corfu is actually extremely relaxed everywhere. The very beautiful and extremely wide sandy beach is not overcrowded, and there are no crowds at the pools, one of which is reserved for adults. What's more, there is hardly any aircraft noise to disturb you - a lot has been done right here.
The gastronomy also fits the bill. Breakfast is served until 11.30 a.m., and at lunchtime the semi-open lunch spot, which resembles a marketplace, is just as impressive as the beach restaurant. And the butter and lemon sauce that was served with dinner is also etched in our taste buds. We were also satisfied with the fine "sushi with a sea view". We found the wine prices a little too high. However, with the live music under the stars every evening, this was quickly forgotten.
