Domes Miramare, a Luxury Collection Resort
Vacation at Onassis' former summer residence
And finally, to tick off the "could be better" list: In the gourmet restaurant Makris, which we would generally award well-deserved Gault&Millau points, we wait forever for our meal. But otherwise: foodies should check in at Domes Miramare! The breakfast buffet gets full marks, and the dinners in "1962" are also completely convincing.
The history of the hotel is also impressive: The Domes Miramare was built in 1962 (hence the restaurant's name) by Aristotle Onassis as a summer residence! A gnarled, 500-year-old olive tree in the airy lobby still bears witness to this today. The upper resort complex, on the other hand, has only been around since 2022 and our favorite spot here is the pool, which is almost Olympic-sized. We also love the central location of the hotel. The resort of Moraitika is just 500 meters away. However, the path to the local tavernas and stores leads along the main road - admittedly not necessarily a nice walk, but a change of pace that is easy to manage on foot.
Our tip: Be sure to book one of the "Haute Living Selection" suites with pool by the sea! They simply offer more privacy and also access to the stylish Club Lounge right on the
waterfront.
