Belmond Cap Juluca, Anguilla
On the beautiful Raffaello beach

Do you remember the Raffaello commercial with the white chocolate ball on the white sandy beach? It was filmed on Anguilla, directly on Cap Juluca. Incidentally, this beach is even more beautiful in real life than in the commercial!

The whitewashed single-storey villas of the Belmond Cap Juluca are lined up here like a string of pearls . The luxury hotel, which was taken over by the traditional chain in 2017 and underwent a 35 million dollar renovation after Hurricane Irma last year, occupies the entire bay. Neighbors? Not a chance! The resort's spacious and extensive grounds mean that the paths are sometimes long. That's why the suites and villas have their own golf carts for guests to drive themselves. Bicycles are also available. These can also be used to get to the end of the resort - to The Cap Shack, for example. The beach bar on the white sand is a wonderful place. It offers barefoot luxury at its best, even if there is still room for improvement when it comes to the food.
Of the restaurants, we liked the Maundays Lounge with its "champagne ritual" and a beautiful tapas menu the best. Pimms, with its pleasant "hand-washing ritual" at the entrance, is a classic fine dining location with a Caribbean touch. However, the dishes are a little "old school", such as the lobster with roast vegetables and rice. Breakfast is also served in the Italian "CIP's by Cipriani" (like Pimms, with a wonderful view) - very attentive, by the way. The morning meal is a mixture of buffet and à la carte with lots of fruit, muesli, grains, sweet pastries and bagels. Various egg dishes can be selected from the menu.

The Beachfront Deluxe and Beachfront Premium Rooms make up a good half of the accommodation. The rooms are furnished in bright colors and warm tones and are nicely decorated. They also offer plenty of space and beautiful terraces with sea views. Although there are suites with a private pool, the One Bedroon Suites on the first floor were our favorites because they offer direct beach access from the small garden - and the beach definitely makes the difference here.
