Oscar winner Dame Helen Mirren becomes godmother of the Scenic Eclipse

A world star christens the world's first Discovery Yacht.

The shipping company Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has announced that Golden Globe and Oscar winner Dame Helen Mirren will be the ship's sponsor of the Scenic Eclipse. The maiden voyage of the 6-star cruise ship is scheduled for August 15, 2019 from Reykjavik to Québec, where the Scenic Eclipse will arrive on August 27. The christening ceremony will take place in New York City on September 10, 2019.

for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in the film "Queen". She has been nominated for an Oscar several other times, including in 2010 for "Best Actress in a Leading Role" in "A Russian Summer". "I feel very honored to have been chosen as the godmother of such a beautiful ship as the 'Scenic Eclipse'," affirms Helen Mirren. "She will embark on many adventurous voyages, transporting her guests to fascinating places all over the world with inimitable style and the utmost safety."

The new Discovery Yacht Scenic Eclipse offers space for 228 guests (200 on polar voyages), who spend the night in elegant and modern Veranda, Penthouse, Panorama or SPA suites. From the standard suite upwards, every guest has a butler at their disposal during their journey, while the luxurious wellness area extends over 550 square meters and offers pure relaxation.
