The Scenic Eclipse, the world's first Discovery Yacht™ from Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, has now been officially christened after its maiden voyage from Reykjavík to New York City. In front of the impressive New York skyline, Oscar winner Dame Helen Mirren was responsible for inaugurating the luxurious ship at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal with the traditional bottle of champagne. She had previously been welcomed on board by owners Glen and Karen Moroney.

With the Scenic Eclipse, Scenic Luxury & Cruises is setting a completely new standard for expedition cruises in the luxury segment. Glen Moroney, Chaiman and founder of Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, told the 350 guests at the christening ceremony in New York City how his company's latest addition to the fleet came about. Actress and ship's godmother Dame Helen Mirren was impressed by the Scenic Eclipse's design and modern technology. "The ship offers its guests an exceptional cruise experience and I feel very honored to be its godmother," she emphasized. At the same time, the actress wished the crew and guests many successful voyages on the high seas.

The Scenic Eclipse has been designed to offer 228 guests (200 in polar regions) the ultimate travel experience of a lifetime. She combines luxury and discovery on the world's oceans with a new standard of safety and sustainability.

The Scenic Eclipse features 114 elegant all-veranda suites ranging in size from 32 to 247 square meters, ten gourmet venues from Asian fusion to French fine dining to a poolside buffet, a luxurious spa area of over 55 square meters with a state-of-the-art gym and separate yoga and Pilates studio. Two helicopters with space for six guests and a submarine for seven people are available for exploring off the ship. There is also a butler service for all guests.
