Around the world with the MS Europa

Today, the MS Europa sets off from Hamburg on a very special premiere - its first circumnavigation of the globe. A cruise that is not only extraordinary in terms of the routing, but also in terms of the logistical challenges behind it.

The MS EUROPA will visit 200 ports on six continents as part of the circumnavigation, passing through four climate zones. In 337 days, the luxury ship will cover 74,217 nautical miles before the round-the-world voyage comes to an end in Hamburg on July 28, 2017. The crew needs 56,000 liters of milk to feed the maximum of 400 guests on board, seven of whom have booked the entire circumnavigation. In addition, there are 337,413 eggs, 435 kilograms of caviar and 95.4 tons of meat. At the end of the circumnavigation, the 49 chefs on board the EUROPA will also have processed around 20.2 tons of fish and 16.3 tons of crustaceans. The consumption figures for beverages are also impressive: the experts on board expect 20,750 bottles of champagne, 30,000 liters of draught beer and 33,219 bottles of wine to be consumed over the entire duration of the circumnavigation.
