W Hotels opens its first hotel in Oman with the W Muscat
A breath of fresh air on Oman's picturesque coast
The W Hotels chain, part of Marriott International Inc.
chain W Hotels has opened a new beach hotel under the W Escape brand, its second property in the Middle East this year. The W Muscat is located in the historic capital of Oman, at the transition to the lively residential area of Shatti Al Qurum, directly by the sea and against an impressive mountain backdrop, and brings a breath of fresh air to the country's tranquil coast with its unconventional approach. The hotel reinterprets local design and cultural traditions. The result is a modern, energetic and stylish retreat that is unique in the Sultanate." The entire hotel is characterized by colorful accents that allude to the vibrant culture of Muscat and the mysterious, adventurous flair associated with the city's rich tradition and history...
Upon arrival
guests are greeted by an impressive nine-ton, ten-metre-high incense tree sculpture by the well-known artist Pongsatat Uaiklang, who welded together 28 individual parts from solid stainless steel. Incense was traditionally used in Oman to bless and welcome weary travelers. At W, guests are guided directly into the inviting Living Room (the name of the lobby at W), where they can relax in an Arabian madjalis under an oversized installation of traditional round caps, known as kummas. Whether with a refreshing iced tea or a cocktail, the Living Room is the place to see and be seen.
The 279 rooms and suites
at the W Muscat boast impressive views of the glorious blue water. The design reflects elements such as the sea and the asymmetrical lines of the nearby mountains, caves and deserts. This is contrasted by art deco decorations that are reminiscent of the characteristic charm of Oman. Asymmetrical corridors pick up on the artistic theme of "every girl has a story" in the form of holographic art objects that present power, love, peace and beauty from a female perspective. The EWOW Suite - the W counterpart to the Presidential Suite - impresses with subtle Arabic accents with a clear W signature.
The 1,800 square meter pool
on the beach offers a view of the Gulf of Oman and is part of the WET concept at W. Here, guests can swim, sunbathe and enjoy cocktails to the sound of live DJ music. In October, the W Muscat invites guests to a FUEL Weekend - the brand's own fitness and wellness retreat - where the WET concept takes center stage. Under the W motto DETOX. RETOX. REPEAT, participants can expect hip, energetic celebrity workouts, hot parties and delicious food and drink offers.
The AWAY® Spa
comprises ten treatment rooms, a hammam and a couples' treatment room. The design is inspired by the ancient ritual of stargazing - guests gaze into a glittering night sky. With its attractive spa menu, a beauty bar for touch-ups and short, effective SOS treatments, the AWAY® Spa is perfect as an all-day retreat to relax or for a quick "touch-up" before a long night of partying. Alternatively, you can get your circulation going with a sweat-inducing workout in the FIT with state-of-the-art equipment and a magnificent sea view.
Immerse yourself in Arabian flavors.
The highly anticipated Siddharta Lounge By Buddha Bar at W Muscat is the first of its kind in Oman. The bar, known for its special offering of culinary delights and drinks, enhances the rooftop restaurant and lounge overlooking the Shatti Al Qurum coastline. The space combines indoor and outdoor areas and celebrates Bedouin tradition through innovative design and artistic displays. The breathtaking sea view is framed by an extraordinary infinity pool that invites guests to literally dive in and enjoy a cocktail in the pool. During the day, the Buddha Bar is a wonderful place to relax. As soon as the sun goes down and the music gets louder, the bar transforms into a trendy hotspot.
Green, light and fresh
are the breakfast, lunch and dinner options at HARVEST. The menu features local produce and changing specialties such as an exclusive coffee roasted directly in Oman. In a nod to traditional pearl fishing, the restaurant is decorated with silver pearls. CHAR, on the other hand, sees itself as a reinterpreted version of the classic grill restaurant, where everything is cooked over a fire without exception. The interior design is reminiscent of an Omani dhow with ceiling lighting using ropes and spotlights on the wall, as if you were on the high seas. The upscale Ba Ban restaurant, named after Chinese opera-like music, is reminiscent of Shanghai in the 1930s, life on the city's long waterfront promenade and in the side streets. Chinese aesthetics and modern Asian style merge here. The menu interprets dishes from Chinese cuisine and captures the flair of Shanghai - from before the revolution to the present day. For example, Peking duck is served, there is a dim sum bar and typical egg tarts.
