New uniforms at Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines is bringing a new, elegant style to the skies.
The global airline has teamed up with haute couturier Ettore Bilotta
from Milan to create the dynamic new unified design that heralds a new era and brand identity.
Unique and recognizable with a deep red and anthracite grey palette
the collection includes hats, gloves, dresses, bags and accessories. Another important aspect is that the uniforms of the cabin, cockpit, cooks and ground services are brought together under a single design approach to offer passengers a holistic brand experience. Bilotta's designs combine form and function, an essential consideration for an airline that flies to most of the world's international destinations. New designs were not only created in consultation with fashion leaders and Turkish Airlines' own team, but also tested on long-haul test flights in different climates.
M. Ilker Aycı, Chairman of the Board of Turkish Airlines and the Executive Committee commented:
"Turkish Airlines is always excited to work with such creative and distinctive talents who combine elegant and practical design. While our new uniforms are traditional elements of Turkish design and culture, they are professional and stay true to a culture of hospitality, just like our airline. "
Ettore Billotta, the fashion designer behind the uniforms, says:
"When I started designing for Turkish Airlines, the first thing that inspired me was Istanbul. This city has been a melting pot for art and civilization for centuries and has a rare richness as a common heritage of many cultures. I wanted to incorporate elements from traditional calligraphy and mosaics along with the new interpretations of Turkish motifs that emphasize modern lines into foulards and ties to reflect a contrast and duality. "
To showcase the new look, the national airline
hired world-renowned British photographer and artist Miles Aldridge to showcase Turkish Airlines' new uniform collection in Istanbul's unique spots.
Rich in culture and history and vibrant in color and texture,
Istanbul enriched uniforms on two continents. With his ability to combine a meticulous approach and a rare flair for drama and narrative, Miles Aldridge photographed the collection with the help of the city to create a selection of bright and clear images ready for the launch of Uniforms. A moment that happened to coincide with the airlines 85th birthday. "I was very inspired when I saw the uniforms, which hark back to a golden age of couture fashion from the 1950s, but with a very modern twist. Again, it's very similar to my own work, which always references the past."
