A blend of history and elegance. Where massive city walls once protected Vienna from attackers 500 years ago, the magnificent Palais Coburg now stands.
Erected upon the vestiges of the historic Braunbastei and completed in 1845, the edifice had sustained considerable damage over the decades. Between 2000 and 2003, the palace underwent an extensive restoration and reopened in its original splendour as a luxurious all-suite hotel. A new phase of enhancement is now underway: “The suites will be state-of-the-art: modern, timeless, stylish, and thoughtfully designed for practicality. As part of the renovation, we’ve decided to further enhance the guest experience—so we’re adapting the state rooms. We’re creating a new fitness area, a new 700-square-meter suite at the top of the palace, and a renovated facade. “Overall, we’re investing heavily to place even greater emphasis on the luxury experience for our guests,” explains Resident Manager Jochen Manninger.

exclusivity. This extraordinary establishment elevates the Palais Coburg Residenz to a destination for culinary excellence. The restaurant’s wine list was named the best in the world by the renowned “The World of Fine Wine” magazine in 2014, 2017, and 2021. With more than 60,000 bottles, the cellar ranks as the second largest in Europe and the largest in Austria. Among its most prized holdings are rarities from Mouton Rothschild, Château d’Yquem, and Pétrus, affirming its status as one of the world’s most significant wine cellars.

The second restaurant, Clementine im Glashaus—named after Princess Clementine of Orléans, the palace’s first resident—invites guests to enjoy relaxed culinary experiences. With its modern take on Austrian cuisine, it is popular not only with hotel guests. On the sunny outdoor terrace, shaded by trees, guests can enjoy delicious dishes paired with complementary wines. The adjacent wine bar on the ground floor of the building offers a cozy atmosphere.
