Angsana Corfu Resort & Spa

A glass of homemade lemonade, a cold refreshing towel and the hand-knotted friendship bracelet - it's the little things that bring great joy at check-in at Angsana. Due to the heat, we are immediately drawn to the infinity pool, which extends into the sea like the bow of a ship. A pool landscape like this not only looks extremely chic, but also very contemporary and makes quite a statement on Corfu. The beach is hardly less prestigious. Where it is located remains a mystery for the time being. Although the Angsana has a direct coastal location, you can get to the beach by shuttle: down a steep slope and then on foot through a beautifully designed underpass.

And then the view of a real gem, the hotel's own beach, which resembles a beach club on the Côte d'Azur. Lounge music, daybeds, a casual bar and a shallow, crystal-clear entrance into the Ionian Sea - we were fans from the very first second. Looking inland, the very wooded, very green surrounding countryside offers a meditative contrast. The views in general: From the narrow balcony of our suite on the fourth floor, the natural beauty of the island is omnipresent. Just as spectacular - only "evening-atmospheric": the panoramic view during dinner on the first evening in the Asian "Koh" restaurant. The only downside is the rather sterile ambience; a few lanterns would have added the desired magic.

Breakfast is served the next morning only indoors, very loud, very busy, not our favorite. Lunch at the Mediterranean "Sofrito" is on a completely different level: Here, the Corfiot chef delights us with an excellent sea bass carpaccio. Just in time for the start of the season, the beach club is to be extended to include a taverna - let's hope that the cooking here will be just as excellent.
