Forsthofgut Nature Hotel

It is the estate’s own forests on the slopes of the Asitz that have defined the Forsthofgut—once a forestry operation, now a 5-star nature hotel in Austria—for 400 years. A vacation at this family-run nature hotel is all about authentic warmth, a love of one’s homeland, and a connection to nature. The imposing Steinberge mountains, in harmony with the gently rolling Grasberge hills, provide the magnificent backdrop for a dream vacation. In winter, the entrance to the Saalbach-Hinterglemm-Leogang-Fieberbrunn ski area is right on the hotel’s doorstep, and in summer, a hiker’s paradise and a cyclist’s paradise beckon.

A Kingdom of Well-Being

The Naturhotel Forsthofgut offers 96 rooms and suites: designed with warm colors and stylish aesthetics, the accommodations delight guests with sophisticated amenities and natural materials sourced from the region. The pièce de résistance is the “Landleben” chalet suite: spanning 145 m², it is the hotel’s largest suite and boasts its own Finnish sauna with mountain views, two master bedrooms, a private rooftop terrace, and an open fireplace. Particular care has been taken to incorporate local materials such as loden and reclaimed wood from the hotel’s own forests. By evening, when the fire glows and the vista opens to the star-studded sky, a profound sense of comfort takes hold, much like being at home. Since June of this year, 23 rooms in the main building have also been given a fresh new look: the exquisitely renovated spaces entice guests with a charming rural flair that harmonizes perfectly with modern luxury.

ForestEurope’s first forest spa at the Naturhotel Forsthofgut is a place of tranquility that pays tribute to the rich natural treasures of the Salzburg region: Across 3,800 square meters, guests return to their roots and reconnect with nature in a particularly gentle and soothing manner. The unique design concept is shaped by the four elements—fire, water, air, and earth—as well as the overarching theme of “forest.” The adults-only wellness area impresses with a spacious sauna landscape, a 25-metre lap pool with a spectacular rooftop terrace, a whirlpool overlooking the Steinberge Mountains, and stylish relaxation rooms with views of the surrounding nature. In the family area, waldWIRBEL, indoor and outdoor pools, sensory showers, a Kneipp mountain stream, and spacious relaxation rooms beckon. Sports enthusiasts can work up a sweat in the 300 m² fitness area on treadmills with a forest-floor effect or on spinning bikes under the open sky.

Exquisite Culinary Delights

Following a major renovation in 2018, the newly reopened Naturhotel Forsthofgut in Leogang offers numerous highlights: The centerpiece is undoubtedly the new ForsthofgutKÜCHE, a completely revamped food concept divided into three culinary lines—“Alpine,” “Local,” and “Vegan”—that prioritizes responsible dining. Modeled after a bustling market, the new, packaging-free gourmet market highlights the products and their quality at individual tasting stations. Most of these products come from within a 50-kilometer radius as well as from the hotel’s own farm. While adults can look forward to a magnificent wine cellar, the weinWALD, the new bar, the “Botanist” natural pharmacy, and the “Beletage”—an adults-only lounge—the renovation also offers some new features for the youngest guests, such as their own buffet in the expanded Rocky’s Kids Club. The new Austrian restaurant 1617, as well as the new dining areas with an open kitchen for the award-winning restaurant “echt. gut essen.,” complete the culinary portfolio.
