With 350 years of history, Hotel Schachner is now in its fourth generation of family ownership. This explains its profound respect for tradition, while embracing contemporary elegance. As a result, the most ambitious renovation in its history took place in 2021–2022. Perched more than 440 metres above the Danube, guests can now gaze out from the infinity pool in the new wellness area on the newly added fourth floor, with views stretching up to 300 km across the Danube into the Alpine foothills.The new two-storey Wachauf SPA beckons guests to unwind in a panoramic sauna, bio sauna, Wald4tel textile sauna, infrared cabin and saltwater steam bath. A fitness room, the Sky Lounge, the FITamin Lounge with its fruit-and-tea bar, and intimate relaxation rooms complete the experience. The 10,000 m² hotel garden still invites guests to wander and unwind, with an outdoor pool, venerable apple and nut trees, and sun loungers. The lobby, reception area, and sections of the restaurant have also been completely rebuilt, and the property has been made fully accessible. In 2024, the expansion continued with 37 rooms; two new Wachau SPA Suites—each featuring a private sauna and freestanding bathtub—and two Family Suites were redesigned.
